'Pillar of shame' in the village of Salez, near Buzet, Istria, Croatia. Known as the 'Berlin' by local villagers, this is one of the few surviving examples of a pillar of shame in Istria - to which those who had committed minor offences were bound and subjected to public torment during the medieval period.
