< Lucerne Carnival Photography – Fasnacht in Luzern
Photos from the Lucerne Carnival in Switzerland by Rudolf Abraham, shot over a roughly 22 hour period on Schmutzigen Donnerstag (Fat Thursday), from the Urknall or 'Big Bang' at 5am sharp, through bands playing Guggenmusik in the streets of the old town and the Fritschi Parade, to the early hours of the following morning. Known as the Fifth Season, the traditional Shrovetide Carnival in Lucerne is one of the largest and most colourful in Switzerland, and lasts from Fat Thursday to Shrove Tuesday.
